Is 93% of communication non-verbal?

It’s a complete myth that 93% of communication is non-verbal. The 93% stat was published in 1971 and based on fairly flimsy evidence. Non verbal communication is undoubtedly important, but that doesn’t mean that it you should pay more attention to your body language, than to the content of your presentation.

The content of your presentation is just as important as the delivery of it.

Which is why we pay a lot of attention the content of your presentation and how it is framed. We look at different structures depending on the objective of the communication, and there are a few tried and tested ones. For example, if you are introducing change and have a clear call to action, you might want to use the “What?” structure:

What?
So what?
Now what?

Using simple frameworks can make pulling the content of your presentation much faster and makes for a more logical and concise argument. 

Once the content is nailed, then we then look at your delivery and work on your presentation style. The main technique we use allows presenters to look confident, even if they are not feeling it. However, once you learn to adopt a confident stance, that’s when you start to feel it, and that’s where the real magic of using non-verbal techniques really happens…
